Question: What does a Gouldian Finch male's behavior mean when he bounces up and down in front of the female?

C1: The courtship dance is a special ritual in gouldian finches. Head bobbing, beak-wiping and ruffling his feathers to display his brilliant colours are characteristics of the courtship dance. The male also holds the body and tail erect, expands his chest and fluffs the forehead feathers. C2: Sometimes the female may also follow with some beak-wiping. But it is rare to see the copulation of gouldian finches. It takes place in the nest.
